MICRODERMABRASION
Microdermabrasion (MDA), is a mechanical exfoliation procedure for superficial skin resurfacing.
Microdermabrasion is used for treatment of:
-
Photoaging skin
-
Rough skin texture
-
Hyperpigmentation
-
Acne simplex
-
Acne vulgaris (not pustules)
-
Fine lines
-
Superficial scars
-
Dull sallow skin colour
-
Enlarged skin pores
-
Keratosis pilaris
-
Thickened scaling skin
-
Dry skin
-
Seborrheic keratosis scaling
-
Enhanced penetration of topical skin products and chemical peels
Advantages of Microdermabrasion:
-
Almost any area of the body requiring exfoliation could be treated with MDA (i.e. face, neck, chest - decolletage, hands, back)
-
Controlled depth of exfoliation
-
Safe for all Fitzpatrick skin types when it is done professionally (the Fitzpatrick skin type describes skin type by its reaction to the sunlight)
-
Minimal to no discomfort during the procedure
-
No anesthesia required
-
Minimal risk of complications
-
Generally no recovery time post procedure
-
May be combined with other aesthetic treatments (i.e. laser skin rejuvenation like Clear Silk or skin genesis, topical skin products and chemical peels, Healite LED photo therapy)
Results:
Microdermabrasion results are progressive. Improvement in skin texture and skin brightness may be observed after a single treatment, more marked improvements including reduction of hyperpigmentation, acne, and fine lines typically require a series of six treatments (may be performed every 2-4 weeks during a treatment series). To maintain the results after the initial series, treatments may be performed every 4-6 weeks.
Notice: All treatments are subject to a referral from your GP and a prior consultation with us to ensure suitability of treatment.
